DR-Bunker in *The Patriot*: a different take on safe shelter.
How does an above-ground mobile bunker differ from a traditional underground shelter? The Patriot set out to find the answer and visited the DR-Bunker showroom in Belgium.
Above-ground protection as a conscious choice.
In the article “Considering a Bunker or Shelter? We Spoke with Two Companies,” The Patriot compares two different approaches to safe sheltering. In addition to a Dutch manufacturer of underground shelters, they also visited DR-Bunker.
This makes it clear why we at DR-Bunker have deliberately chosen a different concept: a mobile safe room based on a container design, intended for above-ground installation and capable of being adapted to the desired application.
Discreet, secure, and accessible.
During the visit, DR-Bunker explains a few key principles. The structure is deliberately designed to retain the unassuming appearance of a standard shipping container, while providing ballistic protection on the inside. Depending on the chosen configuration, features such as ventilation, filtration, and off-grid systems can be added.
The above-ground design also ensures that no extensive excavation work is required and makes it possible to relocate the bunker if necessary.
