Ballistic Steel
OUR RANGE – Built to last
Ballistic steel forms the core of our mobile survival bunker, guaranteeing maximum security.
WHAT IS BALLISTIC STEEL?
Ballistic steel is specially reinforced steel designed to provide protection against bullets and other projectiles. Depending on the application, it is tested against a specific resistance class.
The classifications FB1 through FB7, (“FB” is short for Firearm Ballistic) are defined by the European standard EN 1522 and indicate what type of firearm and ammunition the material can withstand.
FB1 offers protection against small-caliber weapons such as .22 rifles, while FB7 protects against high-powered assault rifles with armor-piercing rounds. The higher the class, the greater the protection against more powerful projectiles.
FB1 to FB4 Protection against handguns
These classes provide protection against pistols and revolvers of increasing power and caliber.
DETAILS:
- FB1: Protection against small caliber rounds (.22 LR)
- FB2: Protection against 9mm pistol rounds (normal speed)
- FB3: Protection against .357 Magnum rounds
- FB4: Protection against high-speed 9mm rounds (Full Metal Jacket)
SUITABLE FOR:
- Home security
- Bunkers and survival shelters
- Office and retail spaces

FB4 is a popular choice for homes and survival shelters
due to its excellent balance between safety and weight/price.
DR-B mobile survival shelters are equipped with FB 4 ballistic steel. Higher FB-Ratings available!
FB5 – FB6 Protection against automatic weapons
These levels provide increased protection against high-powered rifles and hunting weapons.
DETAILS:
- FB5: Protection against 5.56×45 mm rounds (e.g. M16)
- FB6: Protection against 7.62×51 mm NATO rounds (e.g. AK-47, FAL)
SUITABLE FOR:
- Government buildings
- Embassies
- High-risk profiles (VIPs, jewelers, military applications, banks)

These levels are commonly used in facilities exposed to higher threats or where requiring military-grade protection.
Dangerous times don’t last but protected people do
